Infrared Sauna & Red Light Therapy
Recover. Recharge. Feel Better.
At Grand Union Jiu Jitsu & Wellbeing, we believe looking after your body is just as important as challenging it.
Our Infrared Sauna & Red Light Therapy sessions have been introduced as part of our commitment to training, recovery and overall wellbeing, giving you a dedicated space to slow down, relax and make recovery part of your routine.
Whether you train Jiu Jitsu, exercise regularly, have an active lifestyle, or simply want some time to switch off from everyday stress, our 30-minute recovery sessions are designed to help you relax, recharge and feel ready to go again.
WHAT IS AN INFRARED SAUNA?
Unlike a traditional sauna, which primarily heats the air around you, an infrared sauna uses infrared energy to warm the body more directly.
This allows you to experience a deep, comfortable heat while relaxing in a calm environment.
As your body warms, your heart rate and blood flow can increase, creating an experience that many people enjoy as part of their post-training recovery and general wellbeing routine.
THE BENEFITS OF INFRARED SAUNA
Regular sauna use can be a great addition to an active and healthy lifestyle.
Muscle Recovery
After Jiu Jitsu, strength training or other physical activity, heat can help increase circulation and allow tired muscles to feel more relaxed.
Relaxation & Stress Relief
Sometimes recovery isn't about doing more — it's about slowing down.
A sauna session gives you dedicated time away from your phone, work and everyday pressures, allowing your body and mind to relax.
Circulation
Exposure to heat causes blood vessels to widen and increases blood flow as your body works to regulate its temperature.
Muscle Stiffness & Mobility
The warmth of the sauna can help muscles and joints feel looser, making it particularly enjoyable after demanding training or a long day.
Sleep & Recovery Routine
Many people find sauna sessions relaxing and enjoy using them as part of their evening or post-training routine, helping them wind down and prepare for rest.
Cardiovascular Wellbeing
Regular sauna bathing has been associated in research with cardiovascular health benefits. Sauna should complement — rather than replace — regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
RED & NEAR-INFRARED LIGHT
Our recovery experience also includes red and near-infrared light, allowing you to combine both technologies during your session.
Red and near-infrared light are increasingly used in sports, fitness and wellbeing settings as part of recovery routines.
Research into photobiomodulation suggests that appropriate red and near-infrared light exposure may support cellular energy processes and exercise recovery, although results depend on factors such as wavelength, dose and treatment protocol.
For us, it forms another part of a simple philosophy:
Train well. Recover well. Look after your body.
